Family in the Fog
The perfect outfits, the perfect photographer, and the perfect location. There are so many choices that go into deciding on a photoshoot. The weather however can’t be chosen or controlled. It’s all in God’s hands. When I booked with my clients, I'm sure that they were not imagining a fog filled family shoot. However, fog is nothing to be afraid of, it creates dimension, a soft background and a sense of mystery. Plus, no one gets sweaty when they’re posing in a cooler environment. It’s a win win :) While my clients were nervous about the weather and were so close to rescheduling, I gave them a little push because I knew it would be so fun. The end results were SO worth it! The fog in this shoot allowed for the joy of this family to radiate through the pictures.
The fog created a damp and cold environment but the McGees made it a cozy and warm photoshoot with their vibrant energy and willingness to brave the cold. It showed how a family’s love is able to brighten and fill the lens. It was SO much fun shooting with the unexpected element of the fog. I’m talking moody, enchanting, and surprising. It’s the epitome of a unique family shoot. This just shows that all families are different but great sources of God’s love for us. It also allowed me to be creative with my editing. Because the natural lighting was more subdued, the pictures turned out to be on the moodier side which I thought was so fun, even if it’s not my go to!
So if the weather ever changes unexpectedly, don’t worry about it. With a talented photographer and an engaged family, the pictures will be breathtaking. Fog may just be the missing piece your photos need to be extra special :)
